Sociopathic boss is about the president of the company I worked at for 22 years. He was jealous of my talents at sales. One year I made more money than he did and he swore he would never let that happen again, and it didn’t. He would steal accounts, deprive me of company resources and even sabotage deals. Bruce was a classic narcissist.
Update 5/16/2017 – The term I should be using is Psychopath. I have learned from reading explanations of the terms sociopath and psychopath, and Bruce definitely qualifies for psychopath. I will have to re-do the entire article to correct this error because of things like URLs, and other SEO bs, but cannot find the time now.
Dream: Sociopathic Boss and the Tomato Plants
– 11/27/11 387
I had tomato plants growing that had been real large – boss’s partner (V.P.) was there watching, but powerless – and some sort of insect had destroyed the crop. The vines were about an inch thick – all the leaves had shriveled up – and a hole was opened at the top of each vine where the insects had been crawling in and out – there was one main insect – a large beetle/spider that I knew had caused the damage – black with blue tinge on shell and black legs – I felt discouraged because the plants had been so healthy and I had anticipated a large yield but after all the work and time spent growing them I had nothing.
Psychoanalytic Dream Interpretation: Sociopathic Boss
Meaning is kind of obvious to me – ex-boss who was President of the company is the sociopathic boss– the lead insect – had destroyed all the hard work I had put into my efforts of having a productive life – and his partner looked on – he did not take part in the destruction – but seemed to just oversee or powerless to do anything – or just amused to observe the way the President and I interacted – as he, the V.P., could not have any effect on the outcome. The only time V.P. openly defended me was when he lost his temper at the secretary – he knew she was part of the conspiracy with President to destroy or sabotage my efforts to be productive – The V.P.’s oldest son and secretary took an active part in this sabotage, and the lead programmer just followed orders in hopes that he would be rewarded some day for his cooperation.
When the President cheated the V.P.’s youngest son – the V.P. did not stand up to the President and protect his own son – who was in reality cheated by the sociopathic boss. The younger son sued his own father’s company and went to work for our competitor. This competitor was over 100 times larger than us. To have such dissension in our ranks was catastrophic to sales in the short term with over 100 of their salesmen letting everyone know how ‘fucked up’ our company was. That was always a closely guarded secret.
The one time the V.P. stood up for me was when arachnid secretary tried to stall my getting a $300,000 contract typed up – when the customer was close to signing. She made sure everything was done for the President no matter how insignificant before she would do anything for me. The V.P. became irate because she was holding up a $300,000 order for petty head games. The secretary said she had too much on her desk already to get my done – the V.P. went into a rage – he shoved everything on her desk onto the floor and then said, “Maybe now you will have time to get his (my) work done”. But after this the ‘bullshit’ continued ‘ad infinitum’. I walked out the door after 22 years – six months later they called me back for a meeting – I never returned the call. No more sociopathic bosses in my life!
This was almost 10 years after I left that company – psychically had a huge impact on my mental state! One customer commented that “the President must have really had the goods on the V.P. – the customer joked that the president must have had pictures of the VP engaged with a goat.”
The sociopathic boss is the classic narcissist who is only interested in his own well being and takes pleasure in depriving others of theirs.

Narcissism from Wikipedia
Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one’s own attributes. The term originated from Greek mythology, where the young Narcissus fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water. Narcissism is a concept in psychoanalytic theory, which was popularly introduced in Sigmund Freud‘s essay On Narcissism (1914). The American Psychiatric Association has had the classification narcissistic personality disorder in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) since 1968, drawing on the historical concept of megalomania.
Narcissism is also considered a social or cultural problem. It is a factor in trait theory used in various self-report inventories of personality such as the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory. It is one of the three dark triadic personality traits (the others being psychopathy and Machiavellianism). Except in the sense of primary narcissism or healthy self-love, narcissism is usually considered a problem in a person’s or group’s relationships with self and others. Narcissism is not the same as egocentrism.
